We have three hand reared Barnevelder roosters born 24th May now five months old and ready to leave our little flock behind. Our much larger resident rooster (Australorp) has just started taking offence to their presence this week mostly due to them crowing in his face.
Their sisters are all double laced and they come from an award winning blood line (see parents pictures) so they have the correct genetics to produce double-laced pullets, with the right girls of course.
Rooster 1 and 3 are robust very handsome specimens and are £15 each and no 2 is free to take with either 1 or 3 as he has a slightly broken toe on one foot due to early incident but is otherwise is really quite beautiful.
As they are brothers they are great friends and have an established pecking order and should not fight with each other, even work together against threats to the girls.
The smaller rooster, no 3 is by far the bravest and when he was scraggy and only a few months old chased a very startled cat away from the flock, the cats round here are pampered house cats so not exactly a threat but the rooster did not know that! With him around your girls will always be safe from predators he will throw himself into danger - unfortunately I am in fear he will decide to challenge our mature resident rooster with dire consequences.
The largest rooster is a fine fellow that frankly could win prizes he has a calm amiable temperament who’s mostly interested in food and cuddles, he knows he’s the biggest of his brothers and is just very laid back about life.
All three have been hand reared are very tame and love humans, they can be picked up and handled even by children, they don’t struggle but do cluckle a bit at the indignity. They will come when called once they know you (or when they think you have food-treats). They are always pleased to see people and perch on you given half a chance.
Truly lovely, and loved, boys looking for a forever home.
