    • **Co-Herdsperson required for family farm in Somerset**

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Co-Herdsperson to join our team on our family farm Nr Wells, Somerset.

This is a new position; the role will work alongside the hands on young farmer who manages the herd and initially take joint responsibility of day to day herd health and performance.

We currently run a 165 cow all year round calving herd, 2X and producing 9000 litres per lactation. The herd is TMR fed and topped up to yield with in parlour feeders.

A recently erected cubicle building with deep sand bedded cubicles and perimeter feeding provides room to continue to grow up to 250 head within the next three years.

The farm runs to just over 400 acres with a solid focus on high quality forage including grass, maize and wholecrop.
Candidates will need to demonstrate a high attention to detail to continue increasing herd productivity and performance including monitoring herd health, focusing on fertility and meeting expected milk quality.

Initially the herd will be run in tandem between the farmer and Co-herdsperson, the candidate will also be required to do other jobs around the farm to get an understanding of the direction the business is working towards. A.I skills beneficial but training can be provided, foot trimming also helpful but a routine trimmer is used monthly.

This is a position for someone to make a difference in, to be trusted to have input and most importantly to enjoy the job. A good sense of humour is essential.

Approx 50 hours per week, flexible time off, competitive salary to reflect experience.
