Hi and thanks for looking at my action listing for this Zetor 5748 tractor.
My dad bought this from our local main dealers in 1981 and it's since been used lightly on our smallholding. It's main tasks have been pulling a tipping trailer for fencing and bringing firewood home, harrowing, spraying and muckspreading from our 2 relatively small buildings.
My dad being now well into his twilight years recently (and finally) decided to upgrade to a newer model that's easier and more comfortable to drive.
He's absolutely loved this old girl and will be very sad to see her go. She's got good and bad points as follows. I'll try and list as much as I know but I'd prefer you come and have a look for yourself before committing:
Strong and reliable engine which was recently rebuilt by our local tractor expert after suffering a cracked cylinder liner. 4 new liners pistons and rings were fitted.
Rear bodywork around the lights was rebuilt some years ago by a local fabricator out of galvanised steel.
All hydraulics work well
New Goodyear tyre fitted on rear a couple of years ago
Gearbox and transmission in good order, front diff recently rebuilt by the same local tractor mechanic. 4WD selector works fine.
Power steering works fine
Good strong clutch
Bodywork in reasonable order. No major rust on or around the bonnet.
Fibreglass roof is good, no cracks or leaks
Horn still works after all these years !
PTO in good order though the 540/1000 speed change hasn't been switched from 540 in years and doesn't seem to want to move now.
Brakes not great, they could really do with a service
Handbrake doesn't work, a bracket on the linkage under the floor is broken, looks like an easy repair but we never got round to it
Hydraulic oil leaks a little from the back end. Hardly Niagra falls but it's not going to get any better without a little work
Windscreen wiper doesn't work. Could be the wiper arm or the motor I'm not sure and again we didn't get round to sorting it out.
Some of the window rubbers are a little perished and there is a cracked glass in one of the door (see photos)
I'm not sure if there's a light on her that works, but these will almost all be bulb, corrosion issues as the electrics seem fine.
You'll see the rear 3 point linkage arms roped up. This is for no other reason than to stop the arms from flapping about whilst we're using the trailer and spreader.
I think that's about it. I've tried hard to describe the old girl as honestly as possible as I don't want you travelling to take a look and finding something that I wasn't clear or honest about.
I'm not in the business of trying to mislead buyers and you can be sure of an honest and accurately described listing.
We might be able to arrange delivery transport but would ask that you see her in the flesh before agreeing to buy. Collection or delivery only on receipt of cleared funds, cash or BACS.
Thanks for looking and if you have any questions please drop me a line or give me a call on 07976 809269. Thank you.
