How to prepare a Longworth trap

"OK so we need to fill the main chamber with hay, make sure there is sufficient hay to insulate them through any bad weather. This is particularly important if you are trapping overnight. Then a handful of porridge oats. Then some blowfly larvae. And you must not forget your carrot or apple so that they do not become dehydrated. Then set the trap as described, and always make sure the trap is at this angle. The reason being you want the main chamber to be off the ground, so that when the small mammal urinates it runs down and escapes from the bottom here rather than sitting in it which is likely to lead them to become cold and then hypothermic."
